Unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given. The Child was delivered from the womb of a virgin. He was wrapped in swaddling clothes for protection from the cold and found nourishment at the breast of His mother. The gentle hands of a carpenter named Joseph were possibly the first to hold Him, while humble shepherds gently pulled back the blanket to peek at the face of God’s kept promise. The Child’s name was Jesus which means Jehovah saves.
Unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given. The Son was given by the Heavenly Father to bring light and hope to a dark and dying world. He left the throne room of heaven to find a bed in a feed trough. He laid aside His robes of glory so He could bear our rags of sin. He found nourishment in doing the will of His Father. It was His Father’s will that He would die on a cross. He was the Lamb who was slain for our transgressions. His name is Emmanuel. He is God with us.
Unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given. On His Mother’s side His name is Wonderful, Counselor. He is the companion to all who fear God and keep His commandments. On His Father’s side His name is Mighty God and Everlasting Father. He was in the beginning with God and in the beginning He was God. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. He is, He was and He will always be the Great I AM.
Unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given. A tiny baby was born, a Royal Son was given. For those who will receive Him, His name is Prince of Peace. His government is everlasting and His peace will never end. It will be ordered and established with judgement and justice from this time forward and forever.
“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”
