An old year has come to an end. And despite our bad attitudes and the gloomy talking heads on TV, most of us know that we have had a good year. Now, the world does not want you to believe this. The news media does not make money from good news and politicians know that unhappy people are easier to manipulate. So in the old year that is passing, the world has tried to keep us shortsighted and sour.
But a New Year is upon us. In this New Year, don’t let the world control you. Turn off the TV news, they are not going to tell you anything you need to know. Vote out the crooked politicians. If they become rich while holding office, they are not public servants. Don’t let your heart be troubled, trust God and trust Jesus. If you count your blessings you will find yourself greeting the New Year with a sweet spirit and clear sight.
Take time and look into God’s heavens. Observe the works of His hands. Marvel at the moon, the stars, and the wonders of all creation. Ask yourself, who am I that God remembers me? But know this, He does remember you. As high as the heavens are above the earth, this is how great His love is for you. He has loved you from as long ago as forever and forever He will continue to love you.
An old year is passing away a new year is being born. Leave your worries and cares behind. Claim God’s promises for the New Year. Call out to God and He will answer you. Listen to God and He will teach you. Look to God and you will see new things. Because every day His mercies are new.
