Thanksgiving

I love Thanksgiving. Families spend time together and there’s always plenty of turkey, dressing and gravy. Thanksgiving comes at the best time of the year. I love the falling leaves, the cool days, the cold nights and the smell of smoke from someone’s fireplace. I love Thanksgiving for many reasons, but most of all I love the fact that grateful people are giving thanks to our good and gracious God.

In First Thessalonians, Paul the Apostle teaches us about thanksgiving. He begins by showing us that we should give thanks always for one another. We should be thankful for our churches, church leaders and our pastors. As we thank God for our friends and loved ones, we should also constantly lift each other up in prayer.

The Word of God tells us that it is His will that we should give thanks in everything. Now, I do not think that God is insisting that we give thanks for all things because there are some things that we are just not going to be thankful for. However, God has promised never to leave us or forsake us. Therefore, no matter what circumstance we are in, we can always give thanks because we know that God is in it with us.

The Bible teaches that we are to rejoice always, because there is always joy to be found in Jesus. We should pray without ceasing, because we have a God who never ceases to listen to our prayers. In everything we can give thanks, because God is victorious over all things.

I love Thanksgiving because on this day and every day, I know that my gracious God is worthy of all my gratitude.

Whooping the Okra

Okra, I’m glad it grows where I live. It is one of my favorite foods. It tastes good no matter how you cook it, and it is good for you. You plant it in the spring and it will keep producing until the first frost of the fall.  However, during the mid-growing season, it might stop producing. When this happens, my Nanny would say the Okra needs a good whooping.

A whooping! What did that mean? It is simple really. As an okra stalk grows it always produces at the top of the plant. Even though it is not producing any okra the bottom of the plant still has the old leaves. These old leaves are useless but they draw nutrients from the stalk and this prevents the plant from making tender okra at the top.  So, my Nanny would take a brush broom and knock the old leaves off. The okra would then begin producing again.

Usually here is where I would begin a spiritual analogy.  However, this is not a spiritual lesson, it is a civics lesson. You see the United States of America was designed to produce. With the natural resources that we have, we could and should be completely independent of the rest of the world.  This great land can produce everything that we, the American citizens need.

However, most elected politicians are like old okra leaves. They do no good and only hinder our great country. They have turned the government into a giant money laundering scheme to pad their evil egos. For example, no federal program or department ever accomplishes anything and they never go away. They were not designed to accomplish anything they were only designed to perpetually line the pockets of career politicians.

The politicians and the so-called news media constantly treat Americans like mushrooms, they want to keep us in the dark and feed us crap. They tell you that the programs and departments are for your own good. They say that the government will protect you and provide for your every need.  With governmental smoke and mirrors, they promise to defend your civil rights while behind your backs they decimate the Constitution. As long as they can convince gullible idiots to vote for them, they will get away with it.

The treasonous traitors in Washington DC have sold our birthright for their profit. The nation’s capital is full of bottom-feeding, nutrient-sucking parasites. It is time for God-fearing American citizens to take a brush broom to Washington DC and flail and give it a good whooping.

In Honor of Veterans Day

“Thank you for your service.” We always mean well when we say this but I have noticed many veterans seem to be embarrassed by the recognition. It is as if they would say,” I was just doing my job”. Yes, they had a job to do and they did it well. Veteran’s Day and everyday a grateful nation says thank you for a job well done. Myself, I will always be proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free and I will never forget those of you who served so faithfully to preserve that right for me.

This devotion is an audio podcast. In it I wish to say thank you and honor all brave Veterans who served our nation so faithfully. Please Click the link below to listem

Do It Again Lord

Do it Again Lord

Lord, once there were people who were told by their government how they must worship. They were told who they would serve and what their doctrines would be. But You stirred their hearts and they rose up in defiance of the tyrannical rulers. They bravely risked their lives and sacrificed all they had for religious freedom.

Lord, once again we find ourselves oppressed by a government who would tell us how we must worship, who we will serve and what our doctrines will be. Lord you once stirred the hearts of your people to rise up in defiance of an unjust government, My prayer today is that you will do it again Lord

Lord, this great nation was born when men were stirred to fight for their Independence and freedom. Brave men realized that they were endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights. Lord you stirred the hearts of these brave men to stand up to despotism and demand the right to live in a land of truth, justice and righteousness. Today I beg you Lord, please do it again!

Lord, once you raised up great men to lead this nation. These men were not politicians who could be bought or swayed by vagrant ideologies. No, truly great leaders are valiant statesmen who stand on Biblical principles and refuse to be bought or bullied by ungodly men or entities. Lord you once raised up true leaders to guide this nation, please Lord do it again.

Lord, you once raised up prophetic men who were unafraid to stand before evil and corrupt leaders and proclaim , “Thus says the Lord’. Heavenly Father we once again need a Moses to say, “Let my people go”. Once again we need an Elijah to challenge the false gods and the evil Jezebels of today. Once again we need a Nathan who will stand before the nation’s leaders and say, “be sure you sins will find you out”. Once again we need a Jeremiah who will weep over this broken nation as he boldly proclaims a truth that burns in his bones. Once again we need a man like John the Baptist who will shout loudly, “Repent, because the Kingdom of God is at hand” Lord you raised these men up once, today I beg You please do again.

Lord, in past centuries you stirred the hearts of common people to call out to you and from these stirrings great awakenings were born. During these times of revival, fearless evangelist thundered across this land preaching that you must be born again. They proclaimed the truth of God’s word and did not hesitate to call evil, evil and sin, sin. Lord, we desperately need for You to do it again

Lord, once you made this nation great. But now we wallow in sin. The cesspool of sodomy is forced on us by evil men. Right is called wrong and wrong is called right. Today righteous people are ridiculed and perverted people are celebrated. How long Lord will you strive with wicked men.

Lord, you have told us that we who are your people must humble ourselves and pray, and that if we will turn from our wicked ways, then you will hear from heaven and heal our land.

Lord you once made this nation great; it is my humble prayer that you will please do it again.

American History

These fundamental objects of the Constitution are in perfect
harmony with the revealed objects of the Christian religion.
Union, justice, peace, the general welfare, and the blessings of civil and religious liberty, are the objects of Christianity, and always secured under its practical and beneficent reign.

The state must rest upon the basis of religion, and it must
preserve this basis, or itself must fall. But the support which
religion gives to the state will obviously cease the moment religion loses its hold upon the popular mind.

This is a Christian nation, first in name, and secondly because of the many and mighty elements of a pure Christianity which have given it character and shaped its destiny from the beginning. It is preeminently the land of the Bible,of the Christian Church, and of the Christian Sabbath……..

The chief security glory of the United States of America has
been, is now, and will be forever, the prevalence and domination of the Christian faith.

Anybody Can Go Back

The Israelites were slaves in Egypt. It was a hard life. The Egyptians were cruel and heartless masters. So the Israelites called out for God to rescue them. God heard their cry and sent Moses to lead them out of Egypt. They were promised a land of milk and honey but the journey was going to be hard.

Now the promises of God are sure and certain, but the road to receiving these promises can be difficult and often terrifying. For the Israelites, the journey to the promise land was hard. Their leader, Moses had to constantly deal with people who wanted to go back. These people would gladly have traded their freedom for melons, cucumbers and safety. Because of the ones who wanted to go back, a whole generation of Israelites died without ever receiving the Promise of God.

In the Gospel of John you can read of a time when Jesus had many followers. They followed Him because of the free food and healthcare that he provided. They also followed Him because of the miracles He performed. But then Jesus quit performing and in John 6, His teaching became difficult. They began to realize that following Jesus was going to be a dangerous journey. Many of them decided that the promise of God was going to cost them too much so they went back to their old life.

God has a promise for those who follow Jesus. It is a promise of salvation and eternal life. The road we travel when we follow Jesus is often intimidating and toilsome. Many people start out after Jesus but fall away when His teaching demands they take up their cross and follow Him. Those who go back from following after Jesus will never experience the promises of God, but for the ones who persist there is a crown laid up in Glory.

Jesus is the way. Following Him is not easy. But when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death we need not be afraid. His rod of protection and staff of guidance will give us comfort. One day we will lie down in the green pastures of His love and dwell in the presence of our God forever. This is the promise of God that will be received by the ones who follow Jesus and never go back.

Healing is for the One Who Will Get Up and Walk

The story is told in John Chapter 5. In Jerusalem there was a pool called Bethesda. Crowds of sick people gathered there, hoping for a miracle. One man had been coming to the pool for 38 years. Jesus asked this man “Do you want to get well?” The man replied with excuses. He said “ Nobody will help me and I can’t help myself.” Jesus told him “You, get up, take up your bed and walk.”

What can we take away from the story of the man at the Pool of Bethesda? Many people are lying around waiting for help from someone, or a miracle from God to improve their situation. I believe Jesus would say “Get up, take up your own bed and walk.” This is applicable to so many situations.

Many people have made the government their god. They want the government to make people love them, keep them safe, and provide their every need. But the government is a false god. If you want your situation to be made better, then you should stop depending on the government. Instead you have to get up, look to Jesus for strength and go to work.

A lot of Christians are wallowing in their besetting sins. They sit around hoping and praying that someone will help them or that God will miraculously save them from their chosen sin. Jesus asks “Do you want to be free from your shame?” They make excuses, “ I can’t change, nobody will help me.” But Jesus says “You get up, listen to God, and walk away from your sinful choices.”

Most churches are praying for a supernatural stirring of a Holy Spirit revival. Maybe once a year they plan for a high powered evangelist to come and help them to overcome their weakness. Meanwhile Jesus is asking “Do you want to be made well?” Excuses are flying every where, (people won’t come to church, people are not interested in Spiritual things). But God is not interested in your excuses. He says to you get up, you go into all the world and you make disciples of all kinds of people..

This is the bottom line, (which many don’t want to hear). No matter what your situation is, if you are not willing to put forth the effort to help yourself, then God will let you sit there and rot. However if you want to be made well, Jesus will help you. But you must choose to get up and walk.

A Fool For God

I refuse to insult my intelligence by watching any of the alphabet soup propaganda networks on TV. However, recently I read that one of their vacuous talking heads insinuated that no intelligent person believes the Bible. That same morning in my daily Bible reading I was encouraged by Second Samuel Chapter 22. So this is what I have to say to all of Beelzebub’s cranium deficient mouth pieces on TV.

God is a rock, a fortress and He is my protection. A shield and a refuge, He is my place of safety. If the waves of destruction and death sweep over me, I will cry out to Him. I know He will hear me because my prayers are prioritized in heaven’s throne room.

I am an extremely sinful person. But because of the blood of Jesus Christ, God sees me to be blameless. If I seem to be bragging, it is because I have a great and powerful God to brag on.

He has reached down from Heaven to rescue me and He will continue to shield me from a strong and powerful enemy who hates me.

You may say, “I see no God, therefore there is no God.” Understand this. To the pure, God reveals Himself to be pure. To those with integrity, He shows His integrity and to the faithful, HE IS the manifestation of faithfulness. If you have eyes to see, He is the light of life. However, if you choose to remain in your blindness, for you He has reserved eternal darkness.

Satan is the prince of the power of the air waves and he comes to kill, steal and destroy. From many screens he spews excrement into our homes. He uses poor deluded fools to attack the Word of God and the faith of His people. His goal is to deceive people into worshipping the puny and putrid gods of this world.

But the Bible is perfect and true. In its pages I feel the breath of God and hear the voice of my Savior. Because of the infallible Word of God, I know the Lord lives. I shout praises to the Rock of my salvation. Everyone must choose who they will worship. But as for me and my house we will serve the one true God who is our Savior, Jesus Christ. If that makes me a fool, then I am a fool for God.

Founded On the Gospel of Christ

Everyone knows that Patrick Henry said, “Give me liberty or give me death”. But did you know he also said, “It cannot be emphasized too clearly and too often that this nation was not founded, by religionists, but by Christians. Not on religion, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ.” These words bear witness to the fact that our Founding Fathers knew this nation could survive only if she stood on the solid rock that is Christ Jesus.

Notice he said this nation was not founded by religionists. A religionist is a person whose faith is placed in the rules, regulations and other trappings of a religion. The establishment of this nation came about, not because of religious people, but because of Christians who followed Christ. These Followers of Christ knew that we are endowed with unalienable rights by our Creator. The government of the United States was instituted for the purpose of securing these rights and must never be allowed to become destructive of these rights.

In the early 1700s from the pulpits of Protestant churches, people were taught they were to be bond slaves to Christ and Christ alone. The sermons of many humble preachers stirred the souls of men to receive a Great Spiritual awakening. It was this Great Awakening that unified the thirteen colonies into one nation under God. From the pulpits were heard great patriotic sermons teaching that freedom was a God given right. These pastors were determined that no one should infringe on their congregation’s rights of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. The men who heard these sermons became the Minutemen who marched into battle with Great Britain determined to have Liberty or Death.

The right to worship freely is the foundational right of all the unalienable rights given to us by the Laws of Nature and Nature’s God. When the Freedom of Religion is abolished all other rights will soon be gone. We must never relinquish our right to worship and the focus of our worship must always be Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only One who can give Life, Liberty and Happiness.

Righteousness Exalts a Nation

In The Declaration of Independence we are told that the government will govern at the consent of the governed. With that thought in mind understand this. As far as politics go, it really makes no difference who we elect if Christians continue to act as they have in the last few decades.

You see the ones who govern our nation will govern the way the culture of this nation demands. Regardless of who is in charge, Republican or Democrat it really makes no difference.Because the laws that are passed will reflect the morals of the people.

If it is true that righteousness exalts a nation, it also must be true that unrighteousness will bring destruction to a nation. We are living in unrighteous times. And we see daily the detriment that unrighteousness is having on our land. While many blame the president or the supreme court for the evil that seems to prevail today. I tell you they are not to blame. They are simply governing with the consent of the governed.

“if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

II Chronicles 7:14 NKJV
