These fundamental objects of the Constitution are in perfect
harmony with the revealed objects of the Christian religion.
Union, justice, peace, the general welfare, and the blessings of civil and religious liberty, are the objects of Christianity, and always secured under its practical and beneficent reign.


The state must rest upon the basis of religion, and it must
preserve this basis, or itself must fall. But the support which
religion gives to the state will obviously cease the moment religion loses its hold upon the popular mind.


This is a Christian nation, first in name, and secondly because of the many and mighty elements of a pure Christianity which have given it character and shaped its destiny from the beginning. It is preeminently the land of the Bible,of the Christian Church, and of the Christian Sabbath……..


The chief security glory of the United States of America has
been, is now, and will be forever, the prevalence and domination of the Christian faith.

Anybody Can Go Back

The Israelites were slaves in Egypt. It was a hard life. The Egyptians were cruel and heartless masters. So the Israelites called out for God to rescue them. God heard their cry and sent Moses to lead them out of Egypt. They were promised a land of milk and honey but the journey was going to be hard.

Now the promises of God are sure and certain, but the road to receiving these promises can be difficult and often terrifying. For the Israelites, the journey to the promise land was hard. Their leader, Moses had to constantly deal with people who wanted to go back. These people would gladly have traded their freedom for melons, cucumbers and safety. Because of the ones who wanted to go back, a whole generation of Israelites died without ever receiving the Promise of God.

In the Gospel of John you can read of a time when Jesus had many followers. They followed Him because of the free food and healthcare that he provided. They also followed Him because of the miracles He performed. But then Jesus quit performing and in John 6, His teaching became difficult. They began to realize that following Jesus was going to be a dangerous journey. Many of them decided that the promise of God was going to cost them too much so they went back to their old life.

God has a promise for those who follow Jesus. It is a promise of salvation and eternal life. The road we travel when we follow Jesus is often intimidating and toilsome. Many people start out after Jesus but fall away when His teaching demands they take up their cross and follow Him. Those who go back from following after Jesus will never experience the promises of God, but for the ones who persist there is a crown laid up in Glory.

Jesus is the way. Following Him is not easy. But when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death we need not be afraid. His rod of protection and staff of guidance will give us comfort. One day we will lie down in the green pastures of His love and dwell in the presence of our God forever. This is the promise of God that will be received by the ones who follow Jesus and never go back.

Healing is for the One Who Will Get Up and Walk

The story is told in John Chapter 5. In Jerusalem there was a pool called Bethesda. Crowds of sick people gathered there, hoping for a miracle. One man had been coming to the pool for 38 years. Jesus asked this man “Do you want to get well?” The man replied with excuses. He said “ Nobody will help me and I can’t help myself.” Jesus told him “You, get up, take up your bed and walk.”

What can we take away from the story of the man at the Pool of Bethesda? Many people are lying around waiting for help from someone, or a miracle from God to improve their situation. I believe Jesus would say “Get up, take up your own bed and walk.” This is applicable to so many situations.

Many people have made the government their god. They want the government to make people love them, keep them safe, and provide their every need. But the government is a false god. If you want your situation to be made better, then you should stop depending on the government. Instead you have to get up, look to Jesus for strength and go to work.

A lot of Christians are wallowing in their besetting sins. They sit around hoping and praying that someone will help them or that God will miraculously save them from their chosen sin. Jesus asks “Do you want to be free from your shame?” They make excuses, “ I can’t change, nobody will help me.” But Jesus says “You get up, listen to God, and walk away from your sinful choices.”

Most churches are praying for a supernatural stirring of a Holy Spirit revival. Maybe once a year they plan for a high powered evangelist to come and help them to overcome their weakness. Meanwhile Jesus is asking “Do you want to be made well?” Excuses are flying every where, (people won’t come to church, people are not interested in Spiritual things). But God is not interested in your excuses. He says to you get up, you go into all the world and you make disciples of all kinds of people..

This is the bottom line, (which many don’t want to hear). No matter what your situation is, if you are not willing to put forth the effort to help yourself, then God will let you sit there and rot. However if you want to be made well, Jesus will help you. But you must choose to get up and walk.

A Fool For God

I refuse to insult my intelligence by watching any of the alphabet soup propaganda networks on TV. However, recently I read that one of their vacuous talking heads insinuated that no intelligent person believes the Bible. That same morning in my daily Bible reading I was encouraged by Second Samuel Chapter 22. So this is what I have to say to all of Beelzebub’s cranium deficient mouth pieces on TV.

God is a rock, a fortress and He is my protection. A shield and a refuge, He is my place of safety. If the waves of destruction and death sweep over me, I will cry out to Him. I know He will hear me because my prayers are prioritized in heaven’s throne room.

I am an extremely sinful person. But because of the blood of Jesus Christ, God sees me to be blameless. If I seem to be bragging, it is because I have a great and powerful God to brag on.

He has reached down from Heaven to rescue me and He will continue to shield me from a strong and powerful enemy who hates me.

You may say, “I see no God, therefore there is no God.” Understand this. To the pure, God reveals Himself to be pure. To those with integrity, He shows His integrity and to the faithful, HE IS the manifestation of faithfulness. If you have eyes to see, He is the light of life. However, if you choose to remain in your blindness, for you He has reserved eternal darkness.

Satan is the prince of the power of the air waves and he comes to kill, steal and destroy. From many screens he spews excrement into our homes. He uses poor deluded fools to attack the Word of God and the faith of His people. His goal is to deceive people into worshipping the puny and putrid gods of this world.

But the Bible is perfect and true. In its pages I feel the breath of God and hear the voice of my Savior. Because of the infallible Word of God, I know the Lord lives. I shout praises to the Rock of my salvation. Everyone must choose who they will worship. But as for me and my house we will serve the one true God who is our Savior, Jesus Christ. If that makes me a fool, then I am a fool for God.

Founded On the Gospel of Christ

Everyone knows that Patrick Henry said, “Give me liberty or give me death”. But did you know he also said, “It cannot be emphasized too clearly and too often that this nation was not founded, by religionists, but by Christians. Not on religion, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ.” These words bear witness to the fact that our Founding Fathers knew this nation could survive only if she stood on the solid rock that is Christ Jesus.

Notice he said this nation was not founded by religionists. A religionist is a person whose faith is placed in the rules, regulations and other trappings of a religion. The establishment of this nation came about, not because of religious people, but because of Christians who followed Christ. These Followers of Christ knew that we are endowed with unalienable rights by our Creator. The government of the United States was instituted for the purpose of securing these rights and must never be allowed to become destructive of these rights.

In the early 1700s from the pulpits of Protestant churches, people were taught they were to be bond slaves to Christ and Christ alone. The sermons of many humble preachers stirred the souls of men to receive a Great Spiritual awakening. It was this Great Awakening that unified the thirteen colonies into one nation under God. From the pulpits were heard great patriotic sermons teaching that freedom was a God given right. These pastors were determined that no one should infringe on their congregation’s rights of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. The men who heard these sermons became the Minutemen who marched into battle with Great Britain determined to have Liberty or Death.

The right to worship freely is the foundational right of all the unalienable rights given to us by the Laws of Nature and Nature’s God. When the Freedom of Religion is abolished all other rights will soon be gone. We must never relinquish our right to worship and the focus of our worship must always be Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only One who can give Life, Liberty and Happiness.

Righteousness Exalts a Nation

In The Declaration of Independence we are told that the government will govern at the consent of the governed. With that thought in mind understand this. As far as politics go, it really makes no difference who we elect if Christians continue to act as they have in the last few decades.

You see the ones who govern our nation will govern the way the culture of this nation demands. Regardless of who is in charge, Republican or Democrat it really makes no difference.Because the laws that are passed will reflect the morals of the people.

If it is true that righteousness exalts a nation, it also must be true that unrighteousness will bring destruction to a nation. We are living in unrighteous times. And we see daily the detriment that unrighteousness is having on our land. While many blame the president or the supreme court for the evil that seems to prevail today. I tell you they are not to blame. They are simply governing with the consent of the governed.

“if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Freedom, Precious Freedom

I recently acquired some chickens. Seven fat hens. I am responsible for their safety, so I built a secure pen for them. It has a top to keep out hawks and is reinforced around the bottom to keep out varmints. Daily I make sure they have fresh water and plenty of food. They are safe, well fed and have a warm dry coop to sleep in. Everything a chicken could want.

Everything a chicken could want, except they want out. Whenever I go to feed them, they are standing at the gate hoping I will let them out. They are glad to exchange the free food for food they can find for themselves. They are also happy to swap the safety of the enclosed pen for the wide open freedom of the yard. When a hawk flies over they hide under a bush and when a varmint comes around they fly into a tree. They don’t need me to take care of them. They are willing to take care of themselves.

It occurs to me that my chickens are exhibiting the true American spirit. True Americans don’t sit around waiting to be fed, they take care of themselves. True Americans will not trade freedom for safety. True Americans will not be told when, where and how to worship. They will worship how, where and when the God of all creation calls them. True Americans don’t depend on the government but will lift their eyes unto God in whom they have placed their trust.

The Declaration of Independence declares that it is evident that we are endowed by the Creator with the rights of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. It appears that many people are willing to trade these rights for the dubious promises of corrupt politicians. I am not! I know that Jesus Christ died on the cross to free me from my sin. And brave soldiers died on the battlefield so I can live in freedom. Satan cannot steal my salvation and I will not sell my liberty. I will stand fast in the liberty by which Christ has made me free, and will not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. I was set free to live in freedom and I will be free.

I Am An American

I am an American. In my blood is the DNA of a Dutchman who in the early 1600s climbed onboard a small sailing ship to cross a dangerous ocean, He was seeking freedom to worship God as he was led by the Holy Spirit and also the ability to prosper in a new land.

I am an American. Within my blood is the DNA of men and women who carved a life out of the wilderness. They were farmers and hunters working hard to provide food and life necessities for their families. They were businessmen who thrived in a capitalist free market society. They were Christians who built churches and shared their faith with their neighbors.

I am an American. In my blood flows the blood of patriots who picked up their squirrel guns to defend themselves from an oppressive government. After the war they traveled from New Jersey to Virginia to North Carolina and finally settled in Goosepond, Georgia.

I am an American. I am proud to carry in my blood the DNA of men who felt compelled to take up arms and fight under the Stars and Bars of the Southern States. Some died, some lost limbs and one man who was my Grandfathers Grandfather suffered greatly as a prisoner of war.

I am an American. I am blessed to have inherited the DNA of my parents and grandparents. They were and are Great Americans who worked hard and prayed harder while they worshiped and served the King of Kings, Jesus Christ.

I am an American, And I pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, and now, we must again become one Nation under God and forever be indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

A Presidential Prayer


This is the prayer that was read to the nation on radio by Franklin D. Roosevelt as Allied troops were invading Nazi-occupied Europe on D-Day, June 6, 1944.


“Almighty God, our sons, pride of our nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity. Lead them straight and true; give them strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith.
They will need Thy blessings. Their road will be long and hard. For the enemy is strong. He may hurl back our forces. Success may not come with rushing speed, but we shall return again and again; and we know that by Thy grace, and by the righteousness of our cause, our sons will triumph.
… For these men are lately drawn from the ways of peace. They fight not for the lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest. They fight to liberate. They fight to let Justice arise—among all thy people. They yearn but for the end of the battle, for their return to the haven of home. Some, will never return. Embrace these, Father, and receive them, Thy heroic servants, into Thy kingdom.
And for us at home— fathers, mothers, children, wives, sisters and brothers of brave men overseas, whose thoughts and prayers are ever with them– help us, Almighty God, to rededicate ourselves in renewed faith in Thee in this hour of great sacrifice…. And let our hearts be stout, to wait out the long travail, to bear sorrows that may come, to impart courage unto our sons wheresoever they may be.
… With Thy blessing, we shall prevail over the unholy forces of our enemy. Help us to conquer the apostles of greed and racial arrogance. Lead us to the saving of our country, and with our sister nations into a world unity that will spell a sure peace– a peace invulnerable to the schemings of unworthy men. And a peace that will let all men live in freedom, reaping the just rewards of their honest toil.

Remembering the Heroes

Over two thousand years ago one man voluntarily gave His life for all the world. In Romans 5:7-8 we read “For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Our hope of eternal life was purchased by the blood of the Holy Son of God. This is something that I will choose to remember and never forget.

On April 19, 1775 in Lexington Massachusetts the first battle of the Revolutionary War took place. When the shooting ended and the smoke cleared, eight brave patriots lay dead. Their blood would join with the blood of many others as a priceless sacrifice to purchase our liberty.

Beginning with the eight men who died that day, about 3 million Americans have given their lives in the service of this great Nation. When I see the blood red stripes on Old Glory, I am reminded that I must always remember and never forget the soldiers who died that I might be free.

3 million is not just a number. It is a 19 year old boy who will never see 20. It is a young father who will never hold his daughter. It is a young wife weeping over a flag-draped coffin. It is a mother hugging a folded flag to her breast. It is an old man burying his pride and joy. It is the sound of taps floating over the hills and valleys of this great land. It is a reminder that while freedom is a gift from God, it is not free. I will always remember and never forget that my freedom was purchased with the blood of American soldiers.

Abraham Lincoln once said, “ Any nation that does not honor its heroes will not long endure.” As Christians, we must honor Jesus who gave His life that we might live. As Americans, we must honor those who died that we might live in freedom. On Memorial Day we are reminded to always remember and never forget that our God given rights of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness have been sealed by the blood of many great American heroes.
