Thoughts From the Back Porch

In the chill of the predawn I sit on my back porch enjoying a cup of coffee and the words of the Bible. In awe I watch the beautiful colors of the horizon as a new day is born and I am convinced again that our God reigns. With a piercing light the sun rises above the trees to claim it’s appointed spot in the sky. On this fresh morning as I do every morning I get excited about the new mercies that will be mine in this new day. This is the day that the Lord has made.

From Down Where the Pavement Ends

Pavement Ends Ministry

After years of serving in a pastoral role in several churches, I retired from leading a church full time, but wanted to stay active in preaching the Gospel. I started writing brief, parable-like devotions that were shared through a radio ministry. At the end of the radio spot, I always invite people to come and see me “down where the pavement ends.” (Which comes from the fact that I literally live at the end of a paved road!)
