Thoughts From the Back Porch

Meanwhile down Where the Pavement Ends I was thinking;
The Apostle Paul has been credited with planting many churches. However it is an injustice to The Holy Spirit to give Paul the acclaim for starting these churches. Paul never planted any churches, he never started any churches. He simply went into all the world, made disciples of all kinds of people, immersed them in the Word of God and taught them to follow Jesus. Churches popped up wherever Paul went, not because of Paul, but because the Holy Spirit worked in and through the disciples Paul made.

Pavement Ends Ministry

After years of serving in a pastoral role in several churches, I retired from leading a church full time, but wanted to stay active in preaching the Gospel. I started writing brief, parable-like devotions that were shared through a radio ministry. At the end of the radio spot, I always invite people to come and see me “down where the pavement ends.” (Which comes from the fact that I literally live at the end of a paved road!)
