The Everlasting Truth: God’s Goodness Through All Generations

Listen to this devotion here:

Truth for All Generations

The Impact of Faith Across Generations

When I think about the goodness of my God, I am overwhelmed with joy. I have to lift my voice and my hands to heaven, and I often wonder why other people don’t do the same. I am so grateful that I serve the Lord. When I am in His presence, I can’t help but sing. And even though my voice is not very good, the sound I make is still full of joy.

The Lord I serve is God. With just a handful of dirt, He created us. We certainly did not make ourselves. We are His people. We belong to Him. Like sheep in the pasture of a good Shepherd, we can rest in green pastures and drink from still waters, confident in His care.

I enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart and come into His courts with praise on my lips. Because He is God, I am always thankful and will never stop blessing His holy name.

My Lord is good, and I want everyone to know it. His loving kindness will last forever. I learned His truth from my parents and grandparents, and I intend to teach this same truth to my children and grandchildren. My God reigns, and His mercy is everlasting. He is faithful, and His truth will endure through all generations.

From the Bible

“Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.”

Down Where the Pavement Ends

Pavement Ends Ministry

After years of serving in a pastoral role in several churches, I retired from leading a church full time, but wanted to stay active in preaching the Gospel. I started writing brief, parable-like devotions that were shared through a radio ministry. At the end of the radio spot, I always invite people to come and see me “down where the pavement ends.” (Which comes from the fact that I literally live at the end of a paved road!)
