How Much Time Do We Have?
“Lord, make me to know my end, And what is the measure of my days, That I may know how frail I am. Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths, And my age is as nothing before You; Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor.” (Psalm 39:4-5)
How much time do we have? Now, don’t look at the clock. The clock can only tell you what time it is. Not how much time you have. How much time do you have? Not a lot. There are 60 seconds in a minute. There are 60 minutes in an hour. There are 24 hours in a day. There are 365 days in a year. That’s the same for everybody.
But we do not know how many seconds, minutes, hours, or days we might have! The Bible tells us not to depend on tomorrow! In James 4:13-15 we read, “You say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead, you should say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” (James 4:13-15)
In your life, how much time have you wasted? How many precious opportunities Have you ever put off sharing the gospel with someone too long? Have you ever put off apologizing to someone too long? Have there been some doors closed in your life that you wish you had stepped through?
Listen; live today as if it is your last because it might be. Take your son fishing. Have a tea party with your daughter. On a clear day, watch the sun go down and then count the stars as they appear in the sky. That’s what God put them there for.
If you have never accepted Christ as your Savior, today is the day of salvation. Today is the last day you are promised. Don’t waste it. At the end of your life, don’t be heard saying, “I wish I had”! Instead, be found saying, “I am glad I did”
How Much Time Do We Have?
“Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.”
