Find Peace
A passage of scripture in Isaiah Chapter 11 speaks of a time of perfect peace. This scripture talks about animals who are natural enemies living together without fear. However, it is only symbolic of a time when mankind can live together comfortably and safely. Most people read this and miss the most important point. Verse 9 tells us that harm and destruction will cease only after the knowledge of God fills our hearts.
Please understand that in this scripture, the word knowledge does not refer to the gathering of information. God does not want us just to learn facts about Him. What He desires from us is an intimate relationship. An old preacher once said, “If you are reading your Bible to learn about God, stop. You are reading for the wrong reason.”
Followers of Jesus must set aside time every day to read the Bible. But do not read the Bible with an agenda. Open the Word and imagine that you are climbing onto your Father’s lap. Lean back against His chest and feel His heartbeat. Close your eyes in prayer. Let Him show you things you could never see as long as your eyes are focused on the world. Listen to the rumble of His voice as He tells you things that are meant only for your ears. Rest in God’s arms and find peace that is beyond your understanding.
The person who has true knowledge of God is peaceful. A peaceful person never demands attention, nor will they insist on having their way. People filled with peace will not be irritable or resentful and will always be kind to others. Receiving the ultimate compliment is when someone tells you, “We can see that you have been with Jesus.”
God has promised that we will be kept in perfect peace if our mind is set on Him. Spend time with Jesus. Place your trust in Him. This is the only way you will ever be able to find true peace.
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable — if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy — dwell on these things. Do what you have learned and received and heard from me, and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.”
