The Greatest Day in History

The Greatest Day in History is yet to happen. It is that Great Day when Jesus returns to earth to rule and reign. You may say that technically this cannot be the greatest day in history because it has not happened, yet.  And if it has not happened it cannot be history.

However, how do you define history?  I define history as the story of mankind’s journey through time from beginning to end. Or possibly you could say that it is, HIS story. His story has, is, and will happen.   I am as sure of this Great Day as I am of yesterday.

This Greatest Day in History has been prophesied. The Bible speaks more about His Second Coming than it does about His First Coming. That is important.

His appearance will proclaim his divinity.   His eyes of fire, the crowns on His head, the Robe dipped in blood, the Armies of Heaven the sword out of His mouth, and the name written on His Robe will all testify that He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

On this The Greatest day in history, all of Creation will exalt Him because “Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is Lord.

Time began when God spoke creation into existence. Time was divided when Jesus was born in a stable. Time was punctuated when Christ died on the cross. Time was highlighted when He rose from the Grave.  And when He returns, He will bring Time to an end.

“Now, it has not happened yet. People have become complacent and apathetic. Because it has been prophesied for so long, they think it won’t happen here and now. But look around. I believe our hearts should tremble because the greatest day in history will soon come to pass. And while we are hiding our eyes and counting to ten, it is Jesus who is about to say, “Ready or not, here I come.”

From the Bible

“Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.

Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”

Down Where the Pavement Ends

Pavement Ends Ministry

After years of serving in a pastoral role in several churches, I retired from leading a church full time, but wanted to stay active in preaching the Gospel. I started writing brief, parable-like devotions that were shared through a radio ministry. At the end of the radio spot, I always invite people to come and see me “down where the pavement ends.” (Which comes from the fact that I literally live at the end of a paved road!)
