Untamable
A wild horse has been captured. Men desire this majestic creature for his strength and beauty, so they set out to break him. Finally, a bridle will control him. No longer wild, the horse had been tamed. This is as it should be, after all, God gave man dominion over all creation.
Throughout the year’s we have redirected the course of rivers and stopped their flow to create lakes. Deserts have become forests and forests have become deserts. Mountains have been moved and valleys have been filled. Because we are mankind, we do not hesitate to exercise dominion over our surroundings.
Untamable
But sometimes we forget that God is sovereign. In our arrogance, we think that even God can be tamed. Here is the problem. We want God to suit us. We try to put a bridle in His mouth and turn His head to please us. We end our prayers with, “In the Name of Jesus, Amen” thinking that God can be manipulated. But you need to know, God is untamable.
My God made the earth by His power. He established the world with His wisdom. Because of His understanding, the sky stretches from horizon to horizon. He speaks and thunder rumbles. At His direction, the fog covers the earth and then dissipates. He is God and He is the Maker of all things.
Mankind was created in His image. Apart from Him, we are nothing but a handful of dirt. We see because His light shines. We hear because His voice speaks. We understand because fear of Him brings wisdom. Be assured of this; We breathe air at His discretion. He is God. We are not. He is sovereign and He is untamable.
“He has made the earth by His power; He has established the world by His wisdom, And stretched out the heaven by His understanding. When He utters His voice— There is a multitude of waters in the heavens: “He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; He makes lightnings for the rain; He brings the wind out of His treasuries.”
