Lessons from God
I woke up long before daylight to read the Bible and pray. I find that early morning is the best time for prayer. Why? I’m not sure. Maybe the raucous sounds of the previous day have finally faded into the background. The new day holds a sense of innocence. What I do know is this: the coolness of the early morning air refreshes the soul. The sounds of dawn create a multilayered symphony that both entertains and encourages the heart.
I have found that in all things, we can learn spiritual lessons. There is no doubt that God is always ready to teach us. For instance, this morning, I realized that the birds began their singing long before daylight arrived. It seems that the birds are feathered prophets joyfully prophesying about the coming of the sun. They lift their voices in a song of praise to the glories of light. This happens even while it is still the darkest night.
Lessons
God would have us learn these lessons from the birds. Trials and troubles will come. Uncertainties are certain to appear. Cancer may cloud your future. A lost job may delay your dreams. A casket may close on the life of a loved one. Yet, through it all, God is worthy of our praise.
Lessons Learned
If a broken heart causes your voice to tremble, be like the birds. Let your trembling voice sing of His glory. Even in your darkest hour, let your songs and your prayers rise to the God of all creation. Because the Son of God is risen, and His Light has overcome darkness.
The lesson that God would have us to learn is this. We have a risen Savior, and joy comes in the morning.
“I will extol You, O Lord, for You have lifted me up, And have not let my foes rejoice over me. O Lord my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me.
O Lord, You brought my soul up from the grave; You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.”
