Understanding the Wrath of God
I usually like to write something uplifting and inspiring. But not today. Today I am mad. I am mad at denominational leaders who would rather be culturally relevant than biblically correct. I am mad at church people who choose to celebrate sin instead of mourning sin. I am mad at the so-called Christians who defend the indefensible. I am especially mad at the preachers and teachers. They spend all their time talking about the love of God. They ignore the wrath of God.
The truth is the love of God and the wrath of God are two sides of the same coin.
You can’t have one without the other. In almost every book in the Bible, we read commands and admonitions to fear God. Throughout the Bible all the people God used had one characteristic in common, they all feared God. God used the righteous people that I have known in my lifetime because they feared God. You must humble yourself in fear and trembling at the feet of a righteous and wrathful God. Only then can you obtain the mercy and grace of a loving God.
Proverbs 9:10 tells us, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. When you know God, you will understand that He is righteous, holy, and just. He is always right. If you disagree with Him, you are wrong. In Deuteronomy we are taught He has set before us a blessing and a curse. He promises to bless you if you obey Him and curse you if you disobey Him. He will keep his promises, but if you receive His love or His wrath it is your choice.
I have been told not to preach hellfire and damnation because people don’t want to hear this. Well, they may not want to hear it but they need to. They need to hear that God has done all he can to save them. He achieved this with the death of His Son on the cross. He will do no more to save them. But God does not have to nor will He save anyone who rejects Jesus as Savior. If you reject Jesus, you have chosen hellfire and damnation.
And now what does God require of you? Only this, you must fear the Lord your God, walk in all His ways, and love Him. Then you are to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul. True worship of God starts with fear and trembling of God’s wrath. It concludes with sacrifice and praise of a loving God. In Malachi chapter 2, there is a promise. It says, “To you who fear My name, the Sun of Righteousness will arise with healing in His wings.”
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.”

thank you again and “amen” many “don’t do church” well Jesus didn’t either but He showed us the way to serve God and out fellow man. sadly many (me) may have lost the fear of God but God is still God !
