The Will of God for Your Life

A carpenter goes to the wood yard to buy lumber. Turning each board, he examines it from every side. It is important to him to choose boards that ideally suit the project that he is working on.

Jesus is the Master Carpenter; He is working on a great project. In John 15:16, He says; ” you have not chosen Me but I have chosen you.” God has a plan and purpose for your life. He chose you because you are ideally suited for His project. So, therefore you can know His will for your future.

How can you know God’s will?

You can find God’s will in the Bible, so read it. We are also told in John 16:13 that the Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth. So look for and yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes God will lead you through circumstances. But always make sure that the Word of God and the Holy Spirit, agree with the circumstances. The will of God never contradicts the Word of God. If you feel you are being led to do something non-Biblical, then you are not being led by God. If the Bible does not teach it, then it is wrong, flee from it.

Remember it is important that we walk in the will of God.  But two people can’t walk together unless they agree. So adjust your direction to follow The Lord, don’t think that He will adjust His path to suit you. He won’t do it.  If you are going to walk with God, you will have to take big steps. You can’t say that you are walking with Him if you hesitate to take bold steps.

You can tell what is in a man’s heart by his walk, so always walk after the will of God. After all, He has chosen you for a mighty purpose. He has chosen you to be straight and upright.

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”

Down Where the Pavement Ends

Pavement Ends Ministry

After years of serving in a pastoral role in several churches, I retired from leading a church full time, but wanted to stay active in preaching the Gospel. I started writing brief, parable-like devotions that were shared through a radio ministry. At the end of the radio spot, I always invite people to come and see me “down where the pavement ends.” (Which comes from the fact that I literally live at the end of a paved road!)
