New
The old year has come to an end. Despite our bad attitudes and the gloomy talking heads on TV, most of us know that we have had a good year. But the world does not want you to believe this. The news media does not make money from good news, and politicians know that unhappy people are easier to manipulate. So, in the old year that is passing, the world has tried to keep us shortsighted and sour.
But a New Year is upon us. In 2026, don’t let the world control you. Turn off the TV news. They are not going to tell you anything you need to know. And don’t let your heart be troubled, trust God and trust Jesus. If you count your blessings, you will find yourself greeting the New Year with a sweet spirit and clear sight.
Take time to look into God’s heavens. Observe the works of His hands. Marvel at the moon, the stars, and the wonders of all creation. Ask yourself, who am I that God remembers me? But know this: He does remember you. As high as the heavens are above the earth, this is how great His love is for you. He has loved you from as long ago as forever, and forever, He will continue to love you.
An old year is passing away, and a New Year is being born. Leave your worries and cares behind. Claim God’s promises for the New Year. Call out to God, and He will answer you. Listen to God, and He will teach you. Look to God, and you will see new things. Because every day, His mercies are new.
“A bruised reed He will not break, And smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth. He will not fail nor be discouraged, Till He has established justice in the earth; And the coastlands shall wait for His law.”
Thus says God the Lord, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people on it, And spirit to those who walk on it: “I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness, And will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the Gentiles, To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the prison, Those who sit in darkness from the prison house.
I am the Lord, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another, Nor My praise to carved images.
Behold, the former things have come to pass, And new things I declare; Before they spring forth I tell you of them.” Sing to the Lord a new song, And His praise from the ends of the earth-
