An Incredible Journey
Every 365 days, we make an incredible journey. As we ride this ball of clay called the earth, we will circumnavigate a ball of fire called the sun. However, the incredible journey is not our trip around the sun. Instead, it is the life we live on this earth. I am thankful for the gravitational miracle of God. It keeps me from losing my grip on this earth. It prevents me from flying off into space. The greater miracle, though, is the grace that He gives us as we walk through this incredible journey daily.
We never know what 12 months will bring. Your life will be much different at the end of this year than it is at the beginning. For example, right now, people stand gazing into a nursery in one wing of a hospital. They are oohing and awing at a new life that is just beginning. In another wing of the same hospital, a family gathers to say goodbye. Their loved one’s life on this earth is ending.
Life never remains the same it is ever-changing. In truth, the road we travel every year is an uncharted one. In the next 365 days, we will embark on an incredible journey. We will truly go where no one has ever gone before.
Yes, a new year always holds mysterious uncertainties. In the next 365 days, we will experience victories and failures. There will hopefully be times when we laugh until we cry. Sadly, there may also be times when we can’t stop crying due to heartbreak and grief.
While the days ahead are unpredictable, we are blessed to have a Heavenly Father who is constant and unchanging. In Isaiah 54:9-10 the God who has compassion on us says,” Even if the mountains walk away and the hills fall to pieces, My love won’t walk away from you, my covenant commitment of peace will never fall apart.”
So, I hope you have a blessed and Happy New Year. It is my prayer that in the days to come, you will cling to God’s promises. No matter what this incredible journey brings, may you always find peace in the presence of our Lord.
“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”
