Experiencing the Goodness of God: A Joyful Shout to the Lord Psalm 100

He is Faithful

The Goodness of God

When I think about the Goodness of God, I am overwhelmed with joy. I have to lift my voice and my hands to Heaven. And I often wonder why other people don’t do the same thing. You see, I am happy that I serve The Lord.  When I am in His presence, I can’t help but sing. And even though my voice is not very good, the noise I make is full of joy.

I know that the Lord I serve is God. He took a handful of dirt and made us. We certainly did not make ourselves.  We are His people; we belong to Him.  Like sheep belonging to a good Shepherd, we know we can lie down in green pastures. We can drink from still waters.

I enter into His gates with thanksgiving in my heart. I come into His courts with praises on my lips. Because He is God, I am always thankful and will never stop blessing His Holy name.

The Goodness of God

My Lord is good and I want everyone to know it.  His loving kindness will last forever. I learned about His truth from my parents and grandparents. I intend to teach this truth to my children and grandchildren. My God reigns and His mercy is everlasting. He is faithful and His truth will endure for all generations.

———————————————————————————

“Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.”

Pavement Ends Ministry

After years of serving in a pastoral role in several churches, I retired from leading a church full time, but wanted to stay active in preaching the Gospel. I started writing brief, parable-like devotions that were shared through a radio ministry. At the end of the radio spot, I always invite people to come and see me “down where the pavement ends.” (Which comes from the fact that I literally live at the end of a paved road!)
