Trust
The other night, we ordered takeout from a local restaurant. When I arrived to pick it up, the order wasn’t quite ready, so I had to wait a few minutes. As I stood waiting, I could see the kitchen area and watch the cooks prepare the meals. Observing how the food was handled made me wonder about their level of cleanliness and hygiene. Despite my concerns, I was hungry and decided to have faith in the restaurant and eat the food.
Have you ever considered the various people and things in which you place your faith? When you sit down, you believe that the chair is strong enough to support your weight. When you drive a car, you hope that the oncoming traffic will stay in its lane. Eating at a restaurant reflects your belief in the restaurant’s ability to prepare a healthy meal.
But often, the things we believe in can fail us. Chairs have broken, causing people to fall on the floor. Automobile accidents occur often due to mechanical malfunctions. They also happen because of driver errors. Additionally, improperly prepared food has made people sick. Nevertheless, we still place our faith and trust in people and things every day. The truth is to function in life, it is necessary to place trust and faith in others.
Every day, we accept things that might prove untrustworthy. Yet, many people refuse to live for Jesus because they don’t trust Him. They struggle to place their faith in a Savior. They don’t believe He is trustworthy, even though He can never fail them. In Psalm 37, we are told that if we trust the Lord, we will thrive in His faithfulness. If we commit our way to Him and trust Him, He will fulfill all His promises for us. You must believe Him. If you can trust a man in a restaurant to make you a pizza, then you should trust Jesus to make you holy. Surely, He deserves our trust.

“Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday.”
