Defending the Sanctity of Human Life: A Call to Action Psalm 139:14

The Sanctity of Human Life

Let me say a few words about the sanctity of human life.  I believe that God the Creator ordains life. He sees each breath and heartbeat of every life as precious.  However, we live in a time when mankind has clashed with humanity.  Today, for many, human life has been deemed to be disposable.

Today, in the United States, thousands of babies will be killed through government-sanctioned abortions.  Moreover, the murder of unborn babies is being paid for with our tax money.  (Every year, the nation’s largest abortion provider, “Planned Parenthood” receives over 500 million dollars from the American taxpayers.)  How does it make you feel to know that the government took your hard-earned tax money and used it to pay for the murder of innocent babies?

The term “Assisted Suicide” is well known. If we live long enough, I believe we will see the day. The practice of euthanasia will get a seal of approval from the liberal Democratic Party.   When this happens, the term “Assisted suicide” will change to “Insisted suicide.” The government will become more active in deciding who is worthy of life and who is not.

Human life is precious to God, but this nation has developed a culture of death.  Some consider the unborn and infirm to be inconvenient, and so they are killed.  When I hold a tiny newborn baby or the hand of a loved one with Alzheimer’s, I sense the blessing of God on their lives.  Then, I pray, “God Have mercy on this land.  We have fallen so far. Please draw us back to You.”

“Cut off your hair and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on the desolate heights; for the Lord has rejected and forsaken the generation of His wrath.’ For the children of Judah have done evil in My sight,” says the Lord. “They have set their abominations in the house which is called by My name, to pollute it.

And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command, nor did it come into My heart.

“Therefore behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord, “when it will no more be called Tophet, or the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter; for they will bury in Tophet until there is no room. The corpses of this people will be food for the birds of the heaven and for the beasts of the earth. And no one will frighten them away.”

Pavement Ends Ministry

After years of serving in a pastoral role in several churches, I retired from leading a church full time, but wanted to stay active in preaching the Gospel. I started writing brief, parable-like devotions that were shared through a radio ministry. At the end of the radio spot, I always invite people to come and see me “down where the pavement ends.” (Which comes from the fact that I literally live at the end of a paved road!)
